Meditonic® · Our story

Nature, dosed like medicine.

Meditonic was founded by a physician who kept meeting people who were not sick enough for a prescription and not well enough to feel like themselves. Saffwell® is what she formulated for them: clinically studied saffron, at the dose the studies actually used.

From the founder

I did not want to write another prescription.

The hardest conversations in clinic were never the dramatic ones. They were the quiet ones. A woman in her thirties, sleeping badly, short with the people she loves, flat in a way she cannot explain. Her labs come back normal. She does not meet the criteria for anything. And she asks the question I heard more than any other: is there anything else I can try?

I trained in integrative and functional medicine, so I knew the research on botanicals. I also knew what was sitting on the shelf. Saffron extract at a fraction of the studied dose. Gummies built on cane sugar and dye. Proprietary blends that hide their numbers, because the numbers are the weak part.

So the honest answer was: yes, there is something else, and no, I cannot point you to a version of it I trust.

Meditonic is the version I trust. We built Saffwell® around Super Negin saffron, the highest grade harvested, standardized to 77.7 mcg of safranal and 1.5 mg of saffron in every gummy. We sweeten it with raw wildflower honey and UMF 10+ Manuka instead of sugar. We make it in a GMP certified facility and we test every batch through an independent lab.

One gummy a day. It tastes of Damask rose. And it is the first thing I have been able to hand to a patient, a friend and my own family without a caveat.

How we formulate

We treat the body like a garden, not a machine.

Human nature is nurtured, complex and always changing. A machine gets a part replaced. A garden gets the right conditions, consistently, and then it does the work itself. That belief decides what goes into a Meditonic formula and, more often, what does not.

Ancient botany

Start with what has been used for centuries

Saffron has been a wellness botanical for a very long time. Tradition is where we look for candidates. It is not where we stop.

Modern reading

Keep only what the research holds up

A botanical earns its place in a formula when controlled trials point the same way, and it leaves when they do not.

Honest dosing

Match the dose to the studies

Most of the difference between a supplement that does something and one that does not is the number on the back of the jar.

What we require

  • Super Negin saffron, the highest grade harvested, full spectrum rather than isolated
  • The active dose printed on the label: 1.5 mg saffron and 77.7 mcg safranal per gummy
  • Raw wildflower honey and UMF 10+ Manuka as the sweetener, because it is also an ingredient
  • Manufacturing in a GMP certified facility
  • Independent third party testing for potency, purity and heavy metals
  • Traceability from the harvest through to the jar in your hand

What we refuse

  • Proprietary blends that hide how much of anything you are getting
  • Cane sugar, high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, xylitol and sorbitol
  • Artificial colors and flavors
  • Citric acid and filler ingredients that exist to cut cost
  • Active ingredients dusted in at a fraction of the studied dose
  • Any claim we cannot point to a published trial for

On the record

Every number we ask you to trust.

This is the whole formula. If a line is missing here, it is not in the jar.

The research we build on

Cited, not implied.

Saffron is one of the more studied botanicals in mood research. Here is the work our formulation decisions lean on, named so you can read it yourself.

Mood and stress

In a double blind randomized trial, 56 healthy adults with mild mood or stress symptoms took a standardized saffron extract for eight weeks. The saffron group reported lower depression scores, better social relationships and reduced stress reactivity.

Jackson et al., 2021. Frontiers in Nutrition, 7:606124.

Compared with standard care

A meta analysis of randomized trials comparing saffron with SSRI antidepressants found no significant difference in the reduction of depressive symptoms, and fewer adverse events reported in the saffron groups.

Meta analysis of saffron versus SSRIs. Nutrition Reviews, Oxford Academic.

Attention and focus

A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial added saffron to standard treatment in adults with ADHD. The saffron group showed improvements in attention and hyperactivity relative to control. Results are preliminary.

Pazoki et al., 2022. Journal of Affective Disorders.

Women's wellness

A 2025 meta analysis of trials using saffron for premenstrual syndrome found a statistically significant improvement in symptom severity against placebo. The authors note that several included trials were small and call for better designed studies.

Meta analysis of saffron for PMS, 2025. Reviews in Clinical Medicine.

What this evidence does not say. Most of these trials are small, several run for eight to twelve weeks, and the authors themselves call for larger studies. We cite them because the direction is consistent across independent groups, not because the question is settled. Saffron is studied at around 30 mg of extract per day in most trials. Saffwell® is a daily wellness formula, not a treatment, and it is not a substitute for care from your own clinician.

Where to start

One gummy. One ritual. Start where you are.

Take it in the morning, keep it up, and give it two to four weeks. That is the whole protocol.
